During Sam and Trevor’s vacation they travelled from Berlin to Warsaw and then to Treblinka.

Treblinka is an infamous extermination camp from WW2. Unlike the more well known Auschwitz, the method of extermination was carbon monoxide or motor exhaust. A link to the extensive Wikipedia article on Treblinka is here.

Treblinka is significant for our family, my mother, Tema, was from Tomashov in Poland, most of the Jewish citizens of Tomashov including all but 2 of my immediate family perished at Treblinka.
