Happy New Year from the Abel Family

As predicted, 2022 was momentous, we are looking forward to more adventure in 2023.

Travel and visiting remained restricted as the year began.  Too bad but Mumtaz’s birthday remained a simple affair at home, we’re looking forward to a better celebration in 2023.

I started flying commercially on weekends in January, this will be a big part of post retirement life.  Business was unexpectedly brisk.  A surprising number of grooms like to propose in the back seat of a light plane over Niagara Falls.  Mumtaz and Sam insisted that I include this photo.

Groundhog Day was off kilter, Wiarton Willie passed away prior to GHD 2021 and a replacement albino groundhog was unfindable. Covid restrictions were in place, we missed a rookie performance for the first time since returning to Canada

In a once in a lifetime event, we celebrate Two’s Day on Tuesday February 22, 2022 at 22 past 10 pm.

At the end of February, I retired from my career in hotel finance, accounting and systems.  Check the blog out for my remarks on this.

Crystal was one of Sam’s best friends, she passed away suddenly in March.  It was a profound loss for Sam.

Finally in March, we feel safe to travel with reasonable precautions.  We travel to Montreal to visit Rehana, Naeem, Ayaan, Inaya and Laila.  We celebrate Pi Day with a Circle Measuring Party.

In April we travel to Vancouver to visit Anver, Yasmin and Zabeena.

We are moving our longer vacation to late fall.  We took many short trips throughout the spring and summer.

Anver passes away in early October

No trip to the Halloween showing of the Rocky Horror Picture Show this year, we continue to avoid large gatherings.  Here are Sam and Trevor’s Official Halloween photos.

There were trips to Ottawa, Montreal, Vancouver and Kitchener with no photos this year.

It was not a great year for seeing friends and relatives although many were encountered at funerals; we did drop in on Rob and Kathy; Roshan, Nurroz, and Nishad; and our old friend from decades ago, Cam.

Trevor’s Grandfather Harry passed away in November.

With Mumtaz out of town, Eddie celebrates his birthday in Toronto with Sam and Trevor.

And here are Sam, Trevor, JB and Lucy.  All dressed for the holidays, Sam and Trevor are wearing matching pajamas; JB and Lucy are wearing matching sweaters.

To all our family, friends, and colleagues

All the Best for a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2023
