Sam’s birthday is in early April, this year we found no way to celebrate until early May so we unified birthday celebrations and Mothers’ Day. We always celebrate Mothers’ Day but don’t make a big fuss about it on the web site due to holiday fatigue.

This year, Sam and Trevor visit which is a treat. We wanted to visited the Watering Can restaurant which is in a large flower shop. We have never been there but it has a great reputation. Oddly, they are not open on Sundays so we had think fast. Russell’s restaurant is a classic diner less than 5 minutes from Aldershot GO Station in Greater Burlington. We switched to brunch at Russell’s immediately after picking Sam and Trevor up at the station.

Next on the agenda was purchasing plants for the flower bed at the front of the house. All of us then moved on preparing the flower bed for summer, I had prepared all the other necessary ingredients the day before. This was quite festive and much appreciated; doing this work as a family celebration is much better than the usual annual gardening event.

Only one photo, the orange plant is Mumtaz’s Mothers Day present … it was touch and go for a while because weather in May was quite cold, but the plant is thriving today.
