No photos, Concord is scenic, New England is excellent for towns of character.

Next day, driving to Saint John, NB. No photos and unfortunately no time to tour the Atlantic coast of Maine. The Maine Turnpike was quite busy, we found a splendid restaurant north of Bangor.

For no truly good reason, we choose to travel to Halifax using the Saint John to Digby ferry. We settle in with good friends Mike and Audrey for a couple of days. Once again, we are so grateful for their hospitality and we hope to see them again soon.

Next we head to Cape Breton Island which has been an objective of ours for a very long time. You will regularly find the Cabot Trail on most scenic drive lists and we enthusiastically agree, don’t miss the chance to tour Lake Bras d’Or as well.

We make fairly short work of the drive to Fredericton, highways in Atlantic Canada are excellent and the speed limit is 110km/hour. We slow down a bit in Fredericton to tour the city and surrounding areas.

We continue to Montreal, the once unpleasant segment from Edmunston to Riviere du Loup is now mostly access controlled freeway, true, there is a about a 10 minute segment on the old route 185 but the whole thing took about 45 minutes which is incredible.

In Montreal we check in with Rehana and Naeem and kids, Ayaan, Inaya and Layla.

Finally we stop in Toronto on the way home for dinner and shopping with Sam. A successful trip indeed.

Click on the photo below for Cape Breton

Click on the photo below for Fredericton

Click on the photo below for the Digby Ferry, Mike and Audrey treating us to lobster in Halls Habour, 2 pleasant restaurant surprises, and Inaya and Layla watching Paw Patrol with me in Montreal.

This year’s vacation was a long driving trip to Atlantic Canada.
