2016, Florida, Groundhog Day, What

We are back from Florida

As many of you know, I have added a 10 day holiday to the calendar in late January tied to Groundhog Day. This year we travelled to Florida. Watch for new posts, slide shows and photos as I get everything compiled. In the meantime here is a quick synopsis:

1. Our trip on day one to Clarksburg WV. was uneventful, we left at 6am the next day.

2. We were caught in the mega storm that took out most of the U.S. North East; we actually travelled in the storm for a couple of hours exiting into Virginia. Then we diverted around the Blue Ridge Mountains and west of the trouble to arrive in the Orlando area some 7 hours later than expected.

3. We were in Spruce Creek for the annual bonfire including a 25 plane precision fly by.

4. We toured in Daytona Beach and hiked at Flagler Beach.

5. Our original plan was to fly to Hallendale and Tampa; Hallendale was cancelled due to schedule conflict and we ended up driving to Tampa to visit friends who were wintering in the area.

6. We flew CGWBO to check out its systems to Titusville (Space Coast Regional Airport), then flew along the Space Shuttle runway (very thrilling)

7. We flew to Key West and spent the day, I have been trying to get there for years. Fun flight and day.

8. On leaving Florida, we drove directly to Unionville PA., where we stayed in a Hilton Garden Inn that was opened 3 days earlier.

9. On February 2, we drove to Punxsutawney, PA. to see Punxsutawney Phil predict an early Spring.

Watch for blog entries on all this in the coming days as I compile all the photos and other data.

Happy Groundhog Day to all.
