Catching Up
It has been quite a while since I’ve updated the blog … essentially there are no photos to archive and the pandemic situation makes most events rather boring to report.
Ill Advised
As March waned, there was a disastrous attempt to relax pandemic restrictions. This was finally reversed in the face of dangerous consequences.
April 1
Sam’s birthday … as with all milestones, we did what we could to make it a celebration. Usually we choose another day in April to celebrate. Sam and Trevor purchased a condo apartment, preparations for the move were underway by Sam’s birthday.
Halfoween Eve
Always on April 30, 6 months after Halloween and a day where I am always working until into the evening due to the fiscal year end. We consider it a minor holiday in the calendar but lots of fun messages result from this, you may celebrate by watching a horror movie. We got our first vaccination shot on 21/April
Star Wars Day
On 4/May, this year I corrected an error that I have been making for years in my Star Wars Name.
Revenge of the Fifth
The day after Star Wars … usually time to reflect on the lack of major holidays until September, but this year is different.
Mothers’ Day
On May 9, Sam did her best to make it festive in the face of real issues with florists and deliveries … they had a tough time keeping up.
Port Dalhousie Piers Reopen
They were declared dangerous over 3 years ago … after much debate and planning, then demolition and construction, they are open again. We used to walk there almost every day in the summer, it is good to see them back. I’ll make a point of photographing them for the blog soon.
Quick Visit to Toronto
To pick up stuff that we are storing for Sam and Trevor; originally we were going to see the condo for the first time, unfortunately, we agreed that safety and legal concerns should prevail, we had a nice outdoor visit, loaded up and returned home.
Eurovision
Sam and I (Mumtaz less so) love to watch the Eurovision Song Contest. We skipped this year; couldn’t get much enthusiasm up for a virtual event … we’ll try again next year.
Egg Day
A new major holiday on our calendar, every year on June 3, the anniversary of Sam’s dissertation defense; or, the day she became a PhD. Scarce 4 days earlier, Sam and Trevor complete their move.
That brings things mostly up to date; on Fathers’ Day, the weather was good enough for our third outdoor meal on our back yard deck, it was great to spend late afternoon and a long evening together. On July 1, we received our second vaccination, Sam and Trevor are also twice vaccinated. In a few days all of us will have been vaccinated twice and have waited out the 2 week period required to assume maximum effect. Our province is planning to reduce restrictions soon, we are hoping that the combination of mass vaccination and sensible precautions will keep us collectively safe; the Covid virus will be an issue until it is eradicated world wide.
Watch for us to be more diligent with photos, with caution, we hope that there will be more stories to tell in very near future.
