First off, good news, Wiarton Willie predicts an early spring.

There is a new tradition which is a 1 week vacation at the end of January to coordinate with Groundhog Day. We were going to kick off this with a trip to Florida to see the Lake Dora Groundhog Day celebration. Well things didn’t work out and we cancelled the trip which proved to be a rather good thing. Instead we stayed at home; looked after a bunch of issues that are pressing and generally relaxed as well.

In the meantime, Mumtaz’s uncle, of whom she is quite fond, passed away peacefully Saturday morning. We visited him on Friday; he was 90.

At about the same time, Mumtaz came down with this year’s flu (I had some 2 weeks ago) which is quite debilitating, she is recovering well.

So now we look forward to Pi Day which is truly special this year.

Remember to kick off the 1 month countdown on February 14. In a typical year, Pi Day is on March 14, serve pie at 1 minute to 2 so that you get 3.14159. This year is extra special … because it is 2015, 3.1415 is automatic … Serve Pi at 9, this will happen next in 100 years so it is certainly a major event.
