Halton County Radial Railway
For those that are not familiar with this facility along Guelph Line in Milton, here is a link to Wikipedia: Halton County Radial Railway – Wikipedia and here is a link to their web site: OERHA – History (archive.org)
I have been trying to convince Mumtaz to go to the facility for a while; I finally deployed the nuclear bomb of selecting this as my birthday outing; but, they will not be operating in November so Mumtaz relented and we made an outing of it. She did insist on spending the week telling me that “we are going to see the choo choos” but that was okay.
The weather was not great but there isn’t much exposure to the outdoors and 3 streetcars were running, it is possible to ride continuously for as long as you like but there is a large collection of vintage equipment including the original Toronto Subway car (called Gloucester) and the second series (called Montreal).
What is great about visiting is that you will find a mix of transit enthusiasts; and kids. Kids can’t resist streetcars and you will find that quite a lot of fun to see.
