Goderich

I have landed at the Goderich Airport which has a great museum and is surprisingly robust. The airport is quite close to the U.S. border and attracts quite a bit of business from both Canada and the U.S. for aircraft maintenance, completion, painting, interiors etc. Unfortunately, it is quite difficult to get to the real town of Goderich which is a good distance from the airport; it has been on our minds for quite some time so we decide to change our late Spring Lake Erie trip to a trip anywhere reasonable in Ontario where we have never visited.

We found Goderich to be a lovely town but what is particularly striking is the civic management of the beach. Now we know that the beach installations were destroyed by a tornado some time ago and were rebuilt from scratch but the quality of the work and careful attention to the regulation and operation of the beach were impressive and we highly recommend it. We also visited Blythe but missed the leather showrooms that we were interested in. It was too early for summer theatre which is also a town specialty.

Unfinished business in Blythe prompted another adventure some weeks later. We visited London for an evening; then spent time with Rob and Kathy. We then continued the drive to Grand Bend, and back to Blythe.
