Eddie’s Birthday

I rarely make a blog entry on my birthday, the only one being on my 65th birthday 2 years ago.

Some Plans Went Astray

Mumtaz was in Vancouver and missed the day’s festivities. A few other things didn’t go exactly according to plan, read on.

Paying Seniors’ Fare for a Trip to Toronto on Public Transport

It was a close thing, a typical system-wide weekend day pass (my birthday was on Sunday) on GO Transit costs $10.00, luckily, the Seniors’ Fare to Toronto cost $9.50 so that plan was finally fulfilled.

The Trip was a Bit of a Slog

Planning for the trip was puzzling. The total travel time was much longer than I expected so I drilled down to investigate.

On Sunday, the bus to Burlington arrives a half an hour before the connecting train. This is bit longer than usual, but I was expecting that.

This particular Sunday, however, there was work on the Hurontario LRT construction that required that the tracks be closed. So, after 2 stops on the train, we transferred to buses to Union Station in Toronto.

The bus trip was quite fast though, originally planned for 2 stops between Oakville and Toronto Union Station, I lucked on to a non-stop trip and it was Sunday, so the trip was pretty fast.

However, another 1/2-hour delay was scheduled to get on the train for one stop to get close to Sam and Trevor’s. I abandoned this in favour of the subway. Sam picked me up at Broadview Station, she happened to be driving nearby so she drove me the rest of the way.

The Official Birthday Present

As always, perfect! A Paw Patrol Pez Dispenser.

A great afternoon of watching Curling. To my delight, Sam and Trevor have developed an interest.

Excellent Chinese Food followed by fantastic Key Lime Pie.
