In what was the highlight of the summer, old friend Markland and his wife Maria visit on their way home to Portugal.

Markland and I met and worked together many years ago in Vancouver. He went on to a brilliant career in the far East, at various times, we visited him in Kota Kinabalu and Beijing maintaining a friendship that has lasted 30 years. We wished that their visit could have been longer.
